Caroma Toilet Seat Replacement

Washer change required every time!

I like the Caroma integrated washbasin cum cistern as it's such a space saver and looks good too whilst it fulfils the need of a wash basin when you don't have the space or plumbing to support it. However we are having to call a plumber to replace the washer almost every 8 months, which is a burden. Wish we had known of this manufacturing defect earlier.

Nasty leaks

Spent $1000 and have to replace a rubber washer in the cistern every 6 months since I bought it ,I'll buy another brand next time ,don't know if they are made overseas but from now on I'll be checking everything I buy ,I'm sick of all the Chinese rubbish we import into this country

Caroma Pretty Good Suite

Replaced my old toilet and cistern because cistern was leaking and toilet bowl had hard water stains - everything still worked but leaked and didn't look good. Plumber installed Caroma Concorde Uniset - ceramic bowl, plastic cistern. Has a dual flush so economical on the water, suite also quite compact so sits better on the wall. It seems very efficient and flushes much quicker than old one. Am very happy with result and thought it was a fair price altogether with installation - and I have been severely ripped off by plumbers before! Is also very smooth and clean looking in its design.

Replacing with something else.

Replacing my coroma toliet this week as it won't stop running. I have replaced all the parts and it still runs. Last straw was today when I had to have a plumber come unclog it because of some paper towel. He told me that with any other toilet I could have done it myself. Had to remove the toliet to fix it. Total waste of money. Don't buy.

Overpriced garbage made in china- Caroma and Dorf

Stay away form Caroma . All their toilets are over priced garbage made in China. My toilet has been hassles no end. My dorf taps ( GWA product which also owns Caroma) have also been a nightmare. My kicthen mixer got called out for warranty twice. The bathroom taps once, and then since the warranty has expired i have had to pay three plumbers. These guys are kidding Australians. It is not made in Australia anymore , none of it. Just over priced Chinese garbage. The prices are highway robbery. I hope this review helps someone.

Absolutely worst product Caroma basin/cistern.

We installed the hand basin over toilet cistern style toilet in 2012. It is now 2017 and we have had to have a plumber 3 times to fix it. It breaks down a few months after the warranty on the part runs out every time. It is garbage I wish we had never installed it. When I contacted Caroma I was ignored. Good job. Stay away from this product.

Caroma are slack

One toilet in our house which had to be removed. Ordered a Caroma Profile 5 with integrated basin toilet. That was a few weeks ago. Caroma tell Tradelink that they have not had time to unpack the container of stock that they have received. Thanks Caroma.

Caroma Slimline Cistern, looks good but tendency for button to stick

I purchased Caroma Slimline Cistern which looks good but I have discovered if one isn't careful then button can get stuck. Had water flushing in toilet for several hours. Will need to get plumber back to fix it

Excellent after sales service

I bought 3 Caroma Banksia toilet suites for a major renovation. When the last one was installed the plumber threw out the chrome plugs that cover the screw holes and access holes on the pan. I rang Caroma and Ben at tech support as extremely helpful. This toilet suite is now discontinued but he found some plugs for me and expressed mailed them to me. Couldn't get better service than that. Well done.

Absolute rubbish

I have 3 Caroma toilets in my house and all of the cisterns leak water even after changing the washer. I have tried rubber and silicon washers with the same result. The whole flushing mechanism is plastic. Do yourself a favour and give Caroma a miss to save you headaches and money further down the track.

This is Caroma rimless toilet cistern is superb . Being a little higher, it is very comfortable. It is so easy to clean, flushes well and never seems to get those nasty 'skid marks'. Highly recommended.

Safety Alert - Caroma toilet cisterns

If you have a ceramic china Caroma toilet cistern please take this seriously. I am horrified to think this fail could have happened while a child was on the toilet. Just look at the large sharp broken pieces let alone the crushing weight of a cistern full of water.

Take the lid off the cistern and look at how the cistern is held to the wall. If you see plastic thumb screws on a plastic thread then the installation is dangerous.

Caroma Toilet Installation Problems

As supplied by Caroma, this dual flush cistern (which I'll guess is around 30Kg full of water) is hung on the wall by two x 1/4' (6mm) Hollow plastic screws which are housed in an aluminium backing plate. However well the plate is screwed to the wall the entire cistern weight hangs on these two small plastic screws.

The plastic screws failed. The cistern came away and crashed.

I believe this is an epic fail on the part of the manufacturer Caroma and there should be a national product safety alert published.

The problem can be averted by replacing the plastic screws with 40mm long M6 countersunk stainless steel nuts and bolts available in Bunnings at less than $4 for a pack of three. Wrap the shank of the screw thread with plastic insulation to cushion the ceramic and use the original thumb screws as washers.

You will need to disconnect the water and the flush pipe to take the cistern off. Unscrew the backing plate from the wall to replace the bolts and reassemble.
